Asbestos Inspections & Assessments
One Source Home Inspection is certified in Georgia to perform building inspections and assessments for asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in accordance with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). We also conduct residential, governmental and commercial inspections for other hazardous materials, such as lead, radon and mold. During the initial inspection process, a survey is conducted in which we create a record of potential hazardous materials (asbestos-containing, lead, mold, etc.). We then estimate the quantity of each material and also assess each material’s physical characteristics. After an inspection is complete, samples are usually collected and sent to an independent environmental laboratory for testing. The number of samples required is generally determined by AHERA sampling protocols.
One Source Home Inspection can provide a thorough inspection report, complete with supporting photographs and field notes that help us identify the specific areas of hazardous materials. We also partner with Certified Industrial Hygienists at fully-accredited laboratories when the scope of a project is deemed necessary to support litigation. The Environmental Protection Agency and the Georgia Environment Protection Divisions’ regulations are complex and violations carry the potential for civil and criminal liabilities for not following regulatory compliance issues, environmental contamination, improper disposal activities, and/or exposing people to a known carcinogen.
Asbestos-containing materials can be present in both new and old buildings and are both dangerous and life-threatening issues. Please call us before you start any demolition and/or remediation project. One Source Home Inspection is not a remediation/abatement company but can recommend those companies for any size project.
